Crocodile on the Sandbank - Elizabeth Peters On the back cover of this book Publisher’s Weekly is quoted as saying, “If Indiana Jones were female, a wife, and a woman who lived in Victorian Times, he would be Amelia Peabody Emerson.” This quote fits my sentiments quite well.

Amelia Peabody is witty, charming, intelligent, and a formidable force to be reckon with. She is well ahead of her time. After she inherits a good sum of money she decides to see the world. This decision leads her into some hilarious antics across Egypt. Along the way she meets some characters. There’s the beautiful and gentle Evelyn who helps to soften Amelia’s image. There are the two hot archeological brothers Walter and Emerson. There are even strange visitations from a pharaoh and a mummy. Together this cast comes together to create a charming mystery.
I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
