I really give this book 4 1/2 stars. I have to admit this is one of the few books I've read in which I've teared up. There were many parts that were emotionally heartwrenching and poignant. However, I didn't get give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons. Although the writing was well done for the most part there were a couple of cliches and points that Hosseini hits the reader over the head with. I didn't have too much sympathy for the narrator, but I was able to understand where he was coming from and I did feel his guilt over the decisions that he had made. His actions made me think about what would I have done in his situation. I hope to believe that I would have acted differently.
