A Great and Terrible Beauty - Libba Bray This book actually turned out better than expected. The beginning was a bit confusing, but once I kept going it was hard to put down. The protagonist, Gemma Doyle, is fiesty and witty. When she enters Spence Academy she meets Felicity, Pippa, and Ann. This is when the story turns into a Victorian version of Mean Girls. It's wonderfully catty and delicious. Just a warning, even though this book is labeled YA it deals with very serious issues and has supernatural elements that get more intense as the series continues.
